About:China Visa Fees

We will be disembarking from cruise ship in Shanghai and going directly to Pudong airport .

I understand a transit G type can be applied for in advance
where do we apply and how much We have had chinese visas in 2013 expiring 2014 and in our old passports.

You can apply for it from the embassy of China in your home country. It will cost USD 140 per person.
Or if you travel like country A-Shanghai (144 hours)-country B, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit, and then no need to apply for a transit G type.
