Visit Shanghai

Can I visit Shanghai for 6 days with no visa or do I have to have one ?
It's a short visit just to see a friend and do some site seeing . Traveling from A Shanghai 6 days back to A again ?

No, if you travel from country A to Shanghai and then back to A, you have to apply for a visa in advance. If you travel from country A to Shanghai and then to country B, you can enjoy the 144 hrs free transit rule.
