About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am an Australian passport holder

planning to end a 3 month trip to Europe by flying Paris-Hong Kong, connecting flight Hong Kong-Shanghai(Hongqiao). 5 days later, I fly Shanghai(Pudong)-Hong Kong, connecting flight Hong Kong-Adelaide. Do I need Transit G, Tourist L or am I eligible for 144 Visa Free?

You need to apply for a tourist L type for that. You cannot enjoy the 144 hour free transit because your layover in Shanghai is not a transit at all.
