About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hours transit

Hi,
Today we got a problem in Pudong.
We had some family flying from Denmark to Pudong and should stay in our house in Shanghai a few days before forwarding to Thailand.
They arrived in Pudong but departure to Thailand from Hongqiao airport.
In the airport they did not get permission to stay, so can you help me understand what was wrong ?
And when they travel home again Thailand-Shanghai-Copenhagen, will this also be a problem ?
Claus

Claus, based on what you said, they are eligible for the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai if their layover is not more than 144 hours in Shanghai. In this case, they can stay with you in your home. When they return, they can also enjoy the 144 hour free transit. You can contact with the airport immigration inspection officers and consult this problem.
