About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

MEL - BEIJING - LAX

I am arriving on Jan 4 at 6:10am and departing Jan 7th at 9:30pm (Just over 72 hours). Will I apply for the transit visa?

You mean 9:30am right? It really comes down to how rigorous the airline enforces the 72-hour rule (under the new rule, Beijing is one of the few cities that count your first day as a part of your duration of stay). There are chances that you may be prevented from boarding by the airline.
