Is my trip even possible?

I want to fly from Sydney to Shanghai and after 2 days to Hong Kong. My flight from Sydney will arrive in xi'an xianyang at 5pm and my stopover flight will leave at 9am to Shanghai. Am I allowed to enter an Airport Hotel in Xian when my final stop is Shanghai? Thanks
