About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

We are flying into Shanghai from Japan and staying for four days. Our departure flight is to the US

but there is a two hour layover in Tokyo. We are trying to us the 144 hour no visa requirement for our stay in Shanghai. Our intention was to make sure we enter from one approved country and exited to a different one. Do you think the layover in Japan will be an issue?

Wteve, it will be an issue. You cannot enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai if you travel like that.
