About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I have a USA passport , currently living in Okinawa, Japan.

If I fly from Japan to Taipei, from Taipei to Beijing. When flying back from Beijing to Taipei to Japan. I will only be in Taipei for couple of hrs for the layover and will not leave the airport. Does this qualify me for a 72 hr free visa? Thanks

Nancy, no, you won’t qualify for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing if you will travel back to Taipei after staying in Beijing even though you just stop in Taipei for couple of hours.

If you travel like Japan-Taipei-Beijing-Japan, you will be able to enjoy the free transit in Beijing.
