About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Sydney - Shanghai - Beijing -Hong Kong - Sydney

Hi guys, I'm staying 4 nights in Shanghai, 3 nights in Beijing then going to Hong Kong. Do I need to apply for Chinese visa or is it covered under 144hrs free transit at Shanghai and 72hrs free transit at Beijing? Your comments are appreciated.

Reg, you need to apply for an entry permit for that if you travel like that. Your trip won’t be covered by the free transit.
If you want to utilize the free transit in Shanghai and Beijing, you should travel like Sydney - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Beijing – Sydney.
