About:Chinese Embassy in Peru

American in Peru looking for a Work visa

I am a TEFL teacher and am looking into work visas for china and was wondering if I need to go to the US to receive it, or can I get it in Lima with the appropriate documentation.

Yes, you can apply from Lima with all required documents. It helps if you have a residence permit in Peru.
