American in Qatar traveling to Shanghai

I am an American living in Doha, traveling to Shanghai to visit a friend playing in the Chinese basketball tournament. What documents do I need? How can I apply in the embassy?

You can apply for a tourist L visa for Shanghai to visit your friend. You need to provide your passport and copy of its data page, the completed application form attached with a half-length color photo, your residence permit in Doha, and an invitation letter from your friend. Afterwards, go to the embassy of PRC to submit the application and apply for the L type entry permit.
