is it possible to take a bus from huanglong scenic area to xi'an?

How much would such a bus cost, what times does it leave and how long does it take to get there? If there is no direct bus what alternavite over-land route is possible (bus with transfer or overnight in some stop along the way)?

Oh, there is no direct bus between the places. You can take a bus from the scenic area to Songpan/Chuanzhusi in an hour. Then change to another bus back to Chengdu and it takes around 6h. The bus may go into Chengdu Chadianzi Bus Station or Xinnanmen Bus Station. After that, go to local Chengbei Bus Station to catch a long-distance bus to Xian within 10-11 hours, for which two buses are available at 09:00 and 17:00.Hope you have a smooth trip!
