24 hour Visa exemption

Hello. I am an Australian citizen / passport holder and have a ticket arriving from the Middle-East into Beijing PEK airport (T2), and then following a 2.5 hour stop-over a flight from Beijing PEK (T1) to Changsha CSX. Thereafter a flight from Changsha CSX to Sydney. Altogether, the total time in China will be around 11 hours. The online information shows that I should be exempt from an entry permit but I have found nothing official on the Chinese embassy websites. I am also wondering whether the 2.5 hour stop over in Beijing will allow enough time to get from T2 to T1 and arrange whatever exemption visa / stamp is necessary to board the Changsha to Sydney flight. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

MBP, you do qualify for the 24 hour direct transit if you travel like that. You can try to find the relevant information from the TIMATIC data base. The 24 hour direct transit is easy to get and won’t take too much time, so 2.5 hours is enough for you to go from T2 to T1 and board the flight to Changsha.
