About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

2 stops in China before arriving to final destination.

I am an American traveling from Los Angeles to Kathmandu, Nepal. I make 2 stops in China before arriving to my final destination. The first stop is in Shanghai airport (14 hour layover) and the next one is in Kunming airport (3 hour layover). Will I be able to enjoy the 72 hours free transit in Shanghai airport?

Diana, you won’t be eligible for the 72 hour free transit in Shanghai because you will also stop in Kunming, but you can make use of the 24 hour direct transit if you travel like that. No entry permit will be needed either.
