About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

flying into shanghai pudong and leaving 12 hours later on cruise ship

Hi, I am due to fly from uk to paris then on to shanghai, we land at pudong airport and we are leaving shanghai cruise terminal around 12 hours later, the cruise destination 17 days later is hong kong and we fly back to the uk, the information is very confusing and the cruise company says I don't need a visa but other sources say I do can you confirm?

Chris, if the cruise will head to a third country or region rather than France after staying in Shanghai, you will be eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai and no entry permit will be required then.

Hi, it leaves shanghai, then its route is through japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and eventually arrives into hong kong where we take a return flight back to france and eventually uk

If so, you can make use of the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai.
