About:China Student Visa

I am holding Vietnamese passport with Canada Student entry permit.

I'm flying from Toronto to Ho Chi Minh city and layover in Shanghai. Do I aqualify to go out and visit the city for few hours, without China visa?

If your layover time in Shanghai is no more than 24 hours, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit there. No entry permit is needed then. You just need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the airport and then you can go to the city for a visit.
