Leaving China by Train

My question is similar to one asked a few days ago: I plan to fly to Seoul, fly to Beijing, visit different cities in China, take a train or bus from Nanning to Hanoi, and fly back to the USA from Ho Chi Min City. How do I indicate a round trip itinerary and hotel reservations for the days I will be in China? Do I need to have train or bus tickets? Thank you!
