a question regarding the free-visa transit

Hello,I will take the Trans-Mongolian train from Beijng, through Ulan Batar to Moskow. I will arrive in Beijing airport and take the train immediately (in the next 12 hours). In this case can I apply for free transit? And how can I apply for it? Thank you.Maria

Maria, if your total layover in PRC is less than 24 hours, you will qualify for the 24 hour direct transit. After you arrive at the airport, you can apply for a free temporary stay permit at immigration office by providing your passport and ticket as well as valid entry permit for Mongolia and then you can go to the train station to take the train and leave PRC.
