visit to Guangzhou

i want to fly from thailand to Guangzhou to visit a friend, after visit heading back to thailand
is the 72 hrs rule applicable?

Claude, if you fly like that, you cannot use the 72 hour free transit. You need to apply for a tourist L type in advance.
