About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Sounds a bit silly as it's clearly says I can do (any nationality) direct transfer. But here I'm just want to clarify again with someone who has experienced. I will be going to Bangkok and will be transit through Beijing.
According to the article it's possoble. Can someone also advise me anyone have had done it?
