About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Belgium - Vietnam - Guangzhou - Belgium

Hello,

Would this journey qualify for the 72h visa in Guangzhou?
Belgium - Vietnam - Guangzhou - Belgium

If yes, is it important that the flight from Guangzhou back to Belgium flies without a stopover in China? E.g. I can choose between a flight from Qatar airways that does: Guangzhou - Doha - Brussels or a flight from Hainan airlines that does: Guangzhou - Beijing (3 hours) - Brussels, am I forced to take the Qatar airways flight?

Thanks!

Your itinerary is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit (144 hour has replaced 72 hours in Guangdong province years ago) that is valid for entire Guangdong province. However, you are really not allowed to use a flight by Hainan Airlines because of its landing in Beijing. In other words, you cannot have two landings within mainland China in a row regardless of the nature of the landings. So, you are correct when you say that you are "forced" to take Qatar Airways flight because it has an itinerary that does not have any additional landing within mainland China after Guangzhou.

By the way, I encourage you to use correct terminology, because it is not 144 hour visa, but 144 hour visa free transit, so there is no visa of any kind.
