About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Option of 72-H free VISA if having still a connection flight within China? Using it in two cities?

Hello and thanks in advance. My case:
Spanish passport.
Departure: Taiwan.
Final destination: Spain
I'm planing to make use of the 72-H transit while visiting Kunming, but then the connection goes through Beijing (10 hours stop-over).
Would I be eligible for the 72-Hour Free Transit in Kunming?
If so, would I have then also the possibility to leave the airport in Beijing and go into the city for a few hours?
Thanks again

Ignacio, because you will stop in two Chinese cities, you cannot use the 72 hour free transit. But if your total layover time in PRC is less than 24 hours, no entry permit is needed either because you can make use of the 24 hour direct transit. You can apply for a temporary stay permit at Beijing airport and then you can leave the airport to the city for few hours.
But if it’s more than 24 hours, a transit G type or tourist L type is needed.

Thank you very much Edwards. So, yes, apparently, since before leaving China for a third country the route includes another landing in China (Taipei-Kunming-Beijing-Madrid), it is not possible to use the 72-H Visa free transit at all in any of the cities, even if I wouldn't abandon the international area of the airport in one of the places
