About:China Visa Application in USA

I have a 10 hour layover in Hong Kong then, I will be flying out to my next destination.

I will be going to the Chinese embassy in New York this weekend, to apply for a transit visa. I don't have a hotel reservation but I have a itinerary showing that have a layover in Hong Kong. Can I use my itinerary for proof of visiting only?

When you apply for the transit G type, the hotel reservation is not needed. Aside from the basic documents, you just need to provide an onward ticket to your next destination.
