About:Chinese Consulate in Montreal

Hello! I am a Canadian citizen transiting through China. Do I need to pre-apply to G visa?

I will fly from Canada through Beijing with a final destination Tokyo.
Do I need to pre-apply to a transit visa?

If your layover in Beijing is not more than 72 hours, you can use the 72 hour free transit there. In this case, no entry permit is needed.
But if it’s more than 72 hours, you need to apply for a transit G type in Canada ahead of your trip.
