About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

8 hours , i need free transit visa?

Hi
i would fly from rome to Bangkok and i have a 7 hours stopover in Shanghai
i was thinking to make a small stop in Nanjing road then go back and take the second flight

in this case i need to ask the 72hours free transit or is not necessary

i have another doubt, i see that i need to "declare" when boarding on the flight from rome that i want to use this free transit , is it necessary? also if i stay only 7 hours?

i am worried that if i declare this when in rome they will schedule my luggage for shanghai and not for final destination bangkok and i need to take my luggage in shanghai at the airport

what happens if i dont delcary my idea and i try to take 24hours free transit?
thank you

Alessandro, don’t worry! You can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai and in this case, you don’t need to declare when boarding the plane. After your arrival, you need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration officer if you want to make a small stop in Nanjing road.
As for your luggage, you can contact with the airline. If it is delivered to final destination, you don’t need to collect it. Otherwise, you need to claim it and then check in again.

you don't need to do that. When you go through the immigration, you can ask for the temporary stay permit.
