The train departs at 7:20 am in the morning, right? I am afraid that you cannot catch the train if you start off in the early morning from HK. Thus you need to enter SZ one day in advance.

From HK Island, you can take a bus to North Railway Station from Java Road Municipal Services Building, North Point; Stewart Road, Wanchai; or Sheung Wan Shun Tak Centre. The buses are available from 7:00 to 17:30, and the trip takes about 2 hours. The fare is HKD 80. :)

Take MTR Tsuen Wan Line from Central or Admiralty Station to Mong Kok Station. Next, change to Kwun Tong Line to Kowloon Tong Station, and transfer to East Rail Line to Lok Ma Chau Station. The MTR fare totals HKD 47.6, and the trip takes about 65 minutes. After crossing the Futian Port to SZ, you can take metro Longhua Line to North Railway Station (CNY 9, about 20 minutes). :)
