Russian passport visit Shanghai for 2 days

Hello,
I have Russian passport and working in Japan. I want to visit Shanghai for 1 or 2 days. Do I need to apply for a visa in this case? I read that in the case of transit via Shanghai, I can stay there up to 3 days without visa, but what about if it is not a transit and I return back to Japan ?
Thank you in advance,
Alex.

Alex, if it's not a transit, you need to apply for a tourist L type to visit Shanghai for 1 or 2 days.
