Traveling from Bangkok to Toronto via Shanghai

Hi there,
I will be in Shanghai for 10 hours on a layover from Bangkok to Toronto on a Canadian passport. I understand that I qualify for Direct Transit, so do I have to wait to apply for this at the airport, or can I get it ahead to reduce wait times?
Thanks,
Ian.

Ian, you should apply for the 24 hour direct transit when you arrive at the airport. You cannot get it ahead. Don’t worry! It won’t take a long time. You can get it within several minutes.
