About:China Transit Visa

What Chinese Visa will I require

I'm a Canadian citizen traveling from Toronto to Calcutta, India via PRC in China Eastern Airlines.
My route is Toronto - Shanghai, wait 12 hrs, Shanghai-Kunming, wait 13 hrs, Kunming - Kolkata.
Return same way with same type of waiting.
What PRC entry permit will I require if I stay at Airport or go out for a visit to city.
Please advise
Regards
Dave

Dave, as your layover is only a little longer than 24 hours, I do think it's possible for you to make use of the 24-hour direct transfer policy. Actually, the 24-hour period starts from 00:00 of the following day after your arrival. If you want to leave the airport, you can just apply for a temporary stay permit.
