transit at pudong airport.

Question

We are a family of six persons,all us citizens. We are travelling from chicago- shanghai-auckland- Melbourne -shanghai-chicago. We have 5.5 h layover at PVG. We want to travel in maglv train  just for the ride and come back to the airport right away Would we be able to do on that If yes how can we do it? Thanks

Yes, you can do that during the layover. Upon landing, just apply for a stay permit and you can leave the airport. By the way, the SMT train station lies between T1 and T2. It costs CNY 50 for a single trip, and CNY 80 for a round trip. A single trip takes about 8 minutes. Have fun! :)
