UK Citizen Cruising into Shanghai from Japan via South Korea in September/ October 2016.

We will be arriving in the Shanghai International Cruise Terminal then having 3 nights in Shanghai prior to returning to the UK via Dubia for a change of flight but no stop over. Is the 144 hour Free Transit applicable to us ? Otherwise we will have to pay 200 GBP each for a 2 Year visa and do not intend to return to China within this period as we have already done a tour of the main tourist sites of China on a previous Tour.
