72 hour transit visa rules

can i get a 72 hour transit permit if i am flying into shanghai from singapore and then flying back to singapore? Ive heard people have done this before so wanted to see if its true.

Bill, if you directly fly back to Singapore, you can't enjoy the free transit policy. You can fly back to Singapore with a layover in a third country. By the way, the 72-hour free transit policy in Shanghai has been replaced by 144-hour one. So you can stay for a longer time if you qualify.
