About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I use the 72 hour or 144 hour free visa if I am a American citizen

traveling from South Korea, to Shanghai, and back to South Korea all with in 72 hours.

Alexia, no, you cannot use the free transit in Shanghai because in principle, you should fly to a third country or region after staying in Shanghai, but you fly back to Korea. So you need to apply for a tourist L type in advance.
