About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying from Taipei to Shanghai

Hey, I would like to fly to Shanghai from Taipei and get the 144 hour free transit. I plan to fly to Shanghai from Taipei then 3 days later fly to Hong Kong. Would this qualify? Not sure if any of these count as being in the same region or not.

Yes, this route qualifies. Hong Kong can be regarded as the third region and Taipei is the region where you departs for Shanghai.

Thank you for such a quick reply. One last thing. Do I have to depart from the same terminal in Shanghai as the one I arrive in? Is it okay to arrive at Terminal 1 in Shanghai and then depart from Terminal 2?

Kex, you don’t have to depart from the same terminal.
You can arrive at terminal 1 and depart from terminal 2.
