About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

On a single entry visa can I leave to go to Hong Kong and get a visa for China upon re-entry?

Tina, at the moment you leave mainland for Hong Kong, your single entry will expire. If you want to enter again, you need to apply for a new entry permit from Hong Kong. Or you can see whether you can make use of the 72 or 144 hour free transit policy if possible.
