i have a 10 year china m visa but my usa passport expires oct 24 2016; do i need new usa

My USA passport expires within 6 months (today is May 29 2016 and my passport expires Oct 24 2016. I have a China 10 year M type. Can I travel to there on this passport on June 2 2016 for 2 weeks? Or do I have to get a new passport?

Dear, you can travel to PRC on your current passport on June for 2 weeks. You don’t need to renew your passport because it requires that your passport must have a remaining validity of at least 6 months only when you apply for the entry permit.
