leaving capital airport to stay in hotel for one night.

Hi,I plan to take CA from shanghai to NY. The layover is 9 hour from 12:30 am to 9:55 am.  I plan to stay in nearby hotel for the night.  Is it feasible to leave airport and come back during transfer?Thanks in advance.
