About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

leaving China by train on 240 hr visa

I am going to fly to Beijing from UK in April for 5 days. To qualify for 240 day visa I will need to leave China to a different country, my question is, can I take the fast train to Hong Kong and then fly home from there? When I arrive at Beijing airport to ask for the 240 day visa, will they accept a pre-booked train ticket as my exit route from China? I understand that I cant do this in the opposite direction, is this correct? thank you so much!.

f gardner, I confirm that you can definitely use a train to exit mainland China to Hong Kong. This is perfectly eligible way to enjoy 240 hour visa free transit. Your itinerary is definitely eligible, but you should take care to buy your Hong Kong bound train ticket in advance, even before your check-in in UK. You will be asked to present a proof of your exit from mainland China toward Hong Kong in both UK at the time of check-in and also in Beijing upon your landing there. I can see that you understand the basis of this visa free transit scheme and I wish you a pleasant stay in China.
