Hi, I hold a Cayman Islands (BOTC) Passport and am planning to travel to Thailand through Shanghai and Kunming, my connecion in Shanghai is for roughly 13 hours but my connection in Kunming is for less than 4. would I be able to apply for a 72-hour Visa-Free Transit in Shanghai and a separate 24-Hour Direct Transit in Kunming?

Nesto, you cannot enjoy the 72 hour free transit in Shanghai because according to the 72 hour policy, you can only transit in one Chinese city. But you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in PRC because your total layover time in Shanghai and Kunming adds up to less than 24 hours. In this case, no entry permit is needed either.
