Transit visa is needed in Guangzhou?

Hi, I live in Australia holding a student entry permit and waiting for my permanent residence permit in australia. I am willing to travel to Vietnam, the flight I planning to take is the route Melbourne-Guangzhou-Ho Chi Min, Do I need a transit entry permit for my stay in Guangzhou?

Alejandro, if your transit time in Guangzhou is less than 24 hours, you don’t need to apply for a transit G type because you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit. But if it is more than 24 hours, a transit G type or tourist L type will be required.
