Am I eligible to use 144 hour free transit visa when arriving on Princess Cruise for one day in Shanghai. If so what if anything should I arrange prior to arrival ?

If the country you come from is different from the country you will go to, you can use the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai because you just stay there for one day. You don’t need to arrange anything prior to arrival. Just remember to take the tickets, your passport and the entry permit to a third country or region with you.
