About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does the 144 hour visa free transit apply if flying with different airlines?

Dear TravelChinaGuide,

I'm flying from Spain to Shanghai with AUSTRIAN AIRLINES. Flight date is 24 July.

Then, I'm flying from Shanghai to Tokyo with JUNEYAO AIRLINES. Flight date is 28 July.

Does the 144 hour free transit apply in this case where the airlines are different? Which documentation should I need? Should I communicate both airlines this situation?

Thanks in advance,
Bests,
Carlos.

Carlos, two different airlines are okay. You can still enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. You just need to take your passport, the valid entry permit to Japan and your air tickets.
You don’t need to communicate both airlines and you just need to inform the AUSTRIAN AIRLINES that you want to use the 144 hour free transit when you board the plane to Shanghai in Spain.
