About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24h or 144h

Hi, I am coming to Shanghai with a morning flight and leaving in the evening. Should I apply for 24h or 144h visa? As I will check in my luggage all the way to Malaysia then do I need to declare it to customs and get it in Shanghai or it can be declared for the flight to Malaysia (as I normally would do)?
Do I need to declare my Shanghai "break" at the check in if I continue the trip according to my ticket (with transit time 10h)?

Pawel, you should apply for the 24 hour direct transit because your transit time in Shanghai will be less than 24 hours.
If the airline will deliver your luggage to Malaysia directly, you don’t need to declare it to customs. But if you need to collect your luggage by yourself, you need to declare it to customs and then check-in again. If so, you may need to apply for a temporary stay permit.
You don’t need to declare your Shanghai “break” when checking in.
