Hong Kong? 144 hour visa free transit

If I am a US citizen coming from Hong Kong and leaving to Singapore am I eligible? I see Singapore on the list but not Hong Kong, but am wondering if Hong Kong is included since it's a SAR or China. Additionally, do you need to do anything in advance? Is there any cost?

Hi, Emily. The list is for those countries which have access to the 144hr free transit policy, it's not a list to define or limit passengers' next destination after the stay in Shanghai. So if you come from HK to Shanghai and leave for Singapore, you are eligible for this because you are a US citizen and HK is considered as your departure region. In terms of immigration affairs, it's not part of PRC because of different immigration systems.

Before you arrive in Shanghai, you need to tell the carrier that you want to use the 144h free transit so that they can report this for you. There is not any cost incurred by using this facility.
