Hello,am currently in South Africa on a work permitI went to submit my application today at the Jorburg office for a chinese visitors visa and they said they need an invitation letter from a travel agent.I explained that I didnt have a travel agent and my trip was self funded, and they basically said I should make a planPlease advise

Bren, usually, the invitation letter is not required when you apply for tourist L type. But because you are applying for it in a third country, an invitation letter from a travel agent may be needed. You’d better find a travel agent and ask for an invitation, and then you can apply for it.
