About:Shanghai Travel

A layover in Shanghai from the time we leave a cruise till we get to to the airport of 48 hours.

We are USA citizens. Do we need a visa? How soon can we apply for it? This will be September of this year.
Thanks

No, no visa is needed. You are eligible to the 144h visa-free policy. Upon arrival, you just need to apply for a stay permit within a couple of minutes. It is very convenient for you! :)
