I am an italian girl living in shanghai with regular residence permit valid until 31st july. i am gonna travel to bali after the residence permit deadline date and my flight back to Italy is gonna be 20 hours after being back to shanghai from bali. do I need to have a special entry permit or something to check in to the flight back to italy? Actually I just need to check in, dont need to get out from the airport.

So you will fly from Bali to Italy, with a 20-hour layover in Shanghai? You can enjoy the free transit policy there, therefore, the entry permit is not required. And you don't have to stay inside the airport.
