Do I need a visa flying from Boston to Shanghai if I have US passport and home return permit?

I was born in HK and then immigrated to US. I have HKID card, home return permit 港澳居民來往內地通行證, and US passport. I do not have HKSAR passport.

If I want to fly direct from Boston to Shanghai, would I still be able to board the plane without the entry permit?
When I arrive at Shanghai, do I only show home return permit?

Thanks.

I think you are still able to board the ship with your passport and home return permit.
When you arrive in Shanghai, you need to show both your passport and the home return permit.
