Train or Bus to Hangzhou

Hi, will reach Pudong Airport on 7 May (Sat) at 330pm. Considering to go Hangzhou immediately, instead of staying a night at Shanghai.

Should I take direct bus (which could take 4 hours +, as i understand traffic may be bad on Golden Weekend) from Pudong Airport to Hangzhou, or is taking the shuttle bus to Hongqiao (might take 1 to 2 hours depending on traffic?) and then taking a high speed rail to Hangzhou East a better option? If i take the rail, which time slot should I book to be safe, as I am not sure traffic conditions for the shuttle bus and how long it takes to collect tickets.

I am also worried that it may be hard to get a cab in Hangzhou/Hangzhou east to my accommodation if I reach there late at night.

Which option is recommended, or should I play it safer and just stay in Shanghai for the night, and depart for Hangzhou the following morning?

Thanks!

Hello, Raul! Personally speaking, I think both way will take you almost the same time for transfer. Direct bus from Pudong airport take a longer time on the way but can avoid the transfer within Shanghai city. If go by rail, i think it would be better if you left at least 4 hours between this 2 trips as you need time to checkout from the airport and time for ticket collection etc( around 60min to 90min would be safer). In this way, you would need a ride after 19:30pm. The cab should not be a very hard problem, usually as long as there are still schedule that day, you can get a cab.
