train ticket - ghanzhou to hongkong

Hi EveryoneHope someone might be able to answer my question soon as I'm very concerned.We are traveling to Guangzhou from London and will require a 24 hour or 78 hour visa free transit issued at GZ airport to travel to HK by rail the same day. I have been given a 2 year multiple entry visa whist my Polish Partner has been given a 2 entry visa. So no problem for me!We are hoping to use one entry on her visa for the return to Ghanzhou from HK. On the same day we fly out to Phuket and then return again to Guangzhou for a flight to Beijing, the reason we need the second entry on her visa.I have been advised that we will need confirmation of our onward travel when we apply for the visa free transit at Ghanzhou airport. I have also been advised that we can only book the tickets and have them sent to a mainland address in china or a hotel.We are not staying in a hotel as we land and hope to catch a ride to HK immediately. We have the hotel booking confirmation for our stay in HK but no rail confirmation.The question is how do we get around this issue? Are the hotel bookings enough or will we need to use one of our visa entries which will cause a problem as we will need to apply for a visa again either in Hong Kong or Thailand.Thank you for your help. Hello, Sebastian!. When you apply for the visa free transit at airport, you did need to have a confirmation which can show you have booked seat on a trip out of mainland already. Only a hotel confirmation would not work. If I get it right, I think you mentioned that you and your friend will back to GZ from HK and then fly to Phuket on the same day? If it is like that your friend may use one entry for the trip from London to GZ and apply the 24- hours visa free for the trip from HK to GZ instead. You can show the flight confirmation to Phuket for the HK-GZ-Phuket trip, so still one entry can be used for the last trip Phuket-GZ. Personally speaking, I think this may work for your trip, you may take this as a reference.

Dear EmilieThank you for your reply.The visa free transit is only available at Ghanzhou Airport and wont be issued when we leave HK to return to China so we will need to use one of our entries on the visa, so unfortunately this wont work. So we're still stuck!Take care Sebsatian

Hi, I used to read that international travelers who transit and stay less than 24 hours can apply for a 24 hours stay permit without visa. Ideally, you can apply for that after your arrival in GZ East station but it is not 100% guaranteed that you can get the stay permit successfully. I understand that this can be a risk. To avoid this risk, maybe you would need to change the rail trip to a flight instead. Flight confirmation can be get in advance.
